Dear Brother,

“A brother helped by a brother is like a city walled.”  How can you forget those special words of our Alpha Delta Gamma National Prayer?

In recognition of the activation of our Epsilon Chapter, on September 10, 1932, we are celebrating a Founder’s Day Reunion on Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11, 2016 in New Orleans to reunite brothers from across the country and the world.  We are also planning to meet with the senior Loyola University leadership to start the steps to reactivate our Epsilon Chapter.   Finally, we are planning to honor our beloved National/Chapter Moderator and History Professor, Father Pillar.  ADG alumni contributed to the Reverend James J. Pillar, O.M.I., Distinguished Professor of History Chair that is proudly held by our own Epsilon Alumnus, Dr. David Moore.

Discounted hotel rooms are available at the Hilton New Orleans at 333 St. Charles Avenue at the special rate of $149.00/night.  Reservations must be made by August 22, to reserve a room call 504-378-2800 or go online here.

Worldwide Suicide Prevention Week

Contact: Asia Wong · awong@loyno.edu

At Loyola, we are requesting that everyone leave a lighted tea candle (electronic) in their windows on Friday, September 9, to show their commitment to suicide prevention, to represent their support to persons who are suffering, and to mourn those lost to suicide. We will also be distributing information on how to recognize and help students at risk. If you wish to participate, please send an email with your name, building and office number to Asia Wong at awong@loyno.edu and a tea light will be delivered to your office.

Tea lights, magnets with the counselor on-call info and suicide prevention info cards are also being distributed to all on-campus residents. All first year students, and all on-campus upperclassmen are participating in Depression Awareness and Suicide Prevention presentations with our Health Advocates, (a student-to-student peer educator program).

Other events/ways to help:

  • Take the pledge: Print out and sign this pledge to show your commitment to stopping suicide. Post it in your office. If you prefer to sign in-person, we will be at a table in the Danna Student Center September 6 - September 9.

  • Take Solace/Give Solace - September 6 - September 9, One Loyola Room, Danna Student Center, First Floor

    Open participation piece
We encourage  members of the Loyola community to write or draw words or images of comfort, love, encouragement and solace for themselves and each other. What keeps you going? What do you wish you could say to help someone else? Post your words and images  to share with others, and feel free to take with you any pieces that resonate for you.

  • Post to your social media. We ask members of the Loyola community to send messages of support, hope, love, faith and encouragement,  as well as sharing resources and place to go for help, reasons to keep going, personal stories, how to get help and offers of help. #loynocares, @loynocares.
