Loyola University New Orleans’ acclaimed Music Therapy Program celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and has several events planned to celebrate. The 1st Annual Charles E. Braswell Music Therapy Symposium honoring the founder of the music therapy program, Charles E. Braswell, runs Friday and Saturday Sept. 22-Sept 23, 2017 at Loyola, 6363 St. Charles Ave. This two-day event, which brings speakers to campus, is free and open to the public and holds special appeal for students, music therapists, and healthcare experts from around the region. Loyola Presents an unprecedented evening of vocal fireworks this month with Loyola Meets the Met, an evening of powerhouse performances by some of the greatest dramatic singers in opera today. Stars of the operatic stage, such as Greer Grimsley, Loretta Bybee, Allan Glassman, Brenda Harris, Melanie Helton, and Peter Volpe will perform one night only. This event, an opera gala presented by Loyola University New Orleans’ acclaimed School of Music, will kick off the Loyola opera season. The visiting stars will also offer a three-day Dramatic Voice Symposium at Loyola designed to introduce opera students and aspiring teachers and local stars to new skills
