Hall of Fame Nomination Deadline

Contact: Garrett lacour · gmlacour@loyno.edu · 504-861-5568

The Hall of Fame honors those in Loyola's past who have either made history or contributed greatly to their sport. The criteria for selection include integrity, sportsmanship, and character. Once a year, all are welcome to share in the ceremony that honors athletes who have made an impact in the history of their sport at Loyola.

The Hall of Fame was created in 1964. After Loyola disbanded its program in 1972, the Hall of Fame did not return until the intercollegiate athletic program was re-instated in 1991-92. Those in the Hall of Fame include Olympic record setters, coaches of national championship teams, school recordholders, and a host of fine athletes and coaches who represented Loyola with excellence.

The Hall of Fame Commission of Loyola University New Orleans, the Alumni Association, and the Department of Athletics and Wellness will celebrate the 2017 Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

The deadline to submit nominations is September 29, 2017.

The Christians is an unflinching look at values in America — and its power to unite or divide.

Directed by C. Patrick Gendusa, Lucas Hnath’s The Christians centers on Pastor Paul, who started his church ten years ago in a modest storefront. Now it houses thousands, with a coffee shop in the lobby and a baptismal font as big as a swimming pool. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundation of his congregation’s beliefs. Staged as a church service and backed by a live choir, The Christians is both epic and unexpectedly intimate, an unflinching look at values in America — and its power to unite or divide. Named a Top 10 Play by Time Magazine, the The New York Times called it “Mesmerizing” and described Hnath “as one of the brightest new voices of his generation.”
