Body Mapping: Enhancing Musical Performance through Somatic Pedagogy

Time: 8:30 am to 5 pm

Contact: CMFA Box Office · tickets@loyno.edu · 504-865-2074

Location: Nunemaker Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Monroe Hall

A certified Andover Educator, Dr. Heather Buchanan joins us as we explore prevention of injury and quality of movement as a part of our Montage Series theme on Artists' Health and Wellness. One of the most recent disciplines to enter the somatic (mind-body) field, Body Mapping is a neuroanatomical education technique designed to teach musicians skills of self-evaluation and change for performing with sensory-motor integrity. This workshop is designed to set each musician who takes it on a path of self-evaluation and change in the quest for cultivating free and effective movement in performance.

Free and Open to the Public
