This skills course is sponsored by BLSA. Developing a personal brand and networking skills are important steps to law firm employment and attracting those important first legal clients. This skills course will explore steps that law students and new lawyers can take to put them on the road to long-term career success. Attendees will learn the questions they should ask themselves as they embark on building their legal career, and how those answers can be applied to networking and business development tips. The presentation will also discuss why having your own book of business is important and when you should start building it (spoiler alert: Now!), and the process for attracting new clients.
Note: Students must submit a 400-word reflection paper in order to receive skills credit. This course satisfies skills competency requirement 4) Professionalism/Law Office Management
