ABOUT MEMPHIS TEACHER RESIDENCY
We believe that urban education is the greatest civil rights and social justice issue in America today. In order to make a positive and sustainable impact on Memphis’ urban schools, Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) recruits, trains, and supports teachers within a Christian context. Applicants are not not required to have an education degree. Residents earn a Masters in Urban Education while attaining competency in maturity areas (Cultural, Instructional, and Character) that provide a foundation for success in the classroom and personally. Following the one-year residency/training year, residents commit to teaching for three consecutive years within a Memphis high-need school.
Just to highlight some key points, during residency year we provide and pay for your housing as well as provide a living stipend on top of that.
