Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials, digital publications, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources. Applicants must be nominated by their institution, and there is a strictly enforced limit of two nominations per institution. The success rate is 9%, but scholars whose projects are not funded are encouraged to reapply, as the reviewers change from year to year.
