Analysis led by student members of the Disability Awareness and Justice Alliance.

The depiction of disability in pop-culture plays a major role in molding the public’s perception of people with disabilities. While much progress has been made in the way people with disabilities are described in pop-culture, literature, and other forms of communication, there is still some distance to go to ensure that language describing disability is respectful and keeps pace with other social reforms. Join your peers and members of the ODS-SAC to analyze portrayals of disability in pop culture and literature, and to discuss how these reflect, or do not reflect, the true reality of certain physical and mental disabilities.
