Sea of Sounds: A Voyage through Greek and Eastern Mediterranean Musical Traditions

This fascinating concert will explore the rich musical heritage of Greece, Byzantium, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean featuring music that will enrich understanding of these musical traditions. Included is Nightingales of Anatolia, an early 17th century song that is transcribed from codex 1203 of the Holy Monastery of Iviron, and codex 322 of Xiopotamou, both monasteries of Mount Athos.

The free concert is presented by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New Orleans Education, Culutre & Youth Committee and the Archives Committee.
