Loyola University New Orleans College of Law alumnus Douglas Gitter, J.D. '92, began collecting contemporary American Folk art when he was twenty-three years old and over the last twenty-five years he has cultivated close and rewarding relationships with many of the artists, several of whom are now recognized in the Smithsonian Institution and The American Folk Art Museum in New York.
Gitter is giving back to Loyola and has donated 30 pieces of folk art that will be permanently displayed on the fourth floor of the College of Law. A dedication event will be held in the College of Law on the fourth floor Nov. 22 at 10:30 a.m. It is free and open to the public to attend.
