Open Kitchens: Women Chefs Changing the New Orleans Food Scene

Join our panel of dynamic women chefs and restaurateurs as they discuss the challenges and triumphs of working in one of New Orleans’s most important industries – an industry historically dominated by men. Guests include moderator Mary Sonnier of Gabrielle, and panelists Kristen Essig of Coquette, Martha Wiggins of Sylvain, and Kelly Fields of Willa Jean. The event will be introduced by food writer, Kat Kinsman.

In conjunction with this event, The Center for the Study of New Orleans and Loyola’s Womens’ Resource Center are proud to announce their joint initiative to raise two scholarships, one named for Leah Chase and one named for Ella Brennan, women whose trailblazing careers exhibited the sort of perseverance, leadership, and excellence that make them a treasure to our city.
