The J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library is hosting a book discussion highlighting Pulitzer Prize finalist and New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Carr, who is speaking at Loyola University New Orleans April 17 as a part of the Presidential Centennial Guest Series. The discussion will focus on Carr's book, "The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains." The book examines our growing dependence on the Internet and how it is influencing the way our minds work, encouraging superficial skimming at the expense of deep conceptual thinking.

For more information or to participate, please contact Loyola's Susan Brower at 504-864-7112.
