Environmental Roundtables are facilitated discussions of important environmental issues, hosted by the Loyola University Environment Program. Facilitators include Environment Program students, faculty and guest hosts.

Our September 14th Environmental Roundtable focuses on Energy in New Orleans, with Guest Host Logan Burke, Executive Director of the Alliance for Affordable Energy.

Founded in 1985, the Alliance for Affordable Energy seeks to promote fair, affordable, environmentally responsible energy. They have advanced a philosophy that there is no conflict between lower energy costs and lower pollution, between good jobs and regulation, or between serving the public interest and making a reasonable profit. Because they are both a consumer advocate and public health advocacy organization, there policy work meets at the crossroads of social justice, sustainable economic development, and environmental protection. The Alliance for Affordable Energy is committed to promoting a new vision for energy policy in Louisiana, from an “energy state” to a “clean energy” leader in the South.

Logan Burke is the New Executive Director of the Alliance for Affordable Energy, the Louisiana ratepayer advocacy organization. Since joining the Alliance in 2013, Ms. Burke has worked on a broad scope of consumer protection and energy issues, including but not limited to energy efficiency, Integrated Resource Planning, distributed energy resources, decoupling, lost contributions to fixed costs and general regulatory matters pertaining to the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Public Service Commission.

Everyone is welcome to join us at our Environmental Roundtable.  We look forward to seeing you there!
