An explosive tale of humor and heartache in today’s changing northern Mexico, The Pecan Orchard is inspired by Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard.

Tanya Saracho’s El Nogalar, an explosive tale of humor and heartache in today’s changing Mexico. In Chekhov’s classic, the family comes home a few months before they lose their orchard due to debt. Similarly, El Nogalar finds an upper-class Mexican family about to lose their orchard. Set in present-day Northern Mexico, it charts the family’s experience as their way of life is threated by encroaching drug cartels, violence and economic upheaval.

El Nogalar is a comical and moving story about family, self-identity and how one defines home when it is set against the encroaching issues plaguing Mexico today.

Free parking is available in the West Road garage located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Avenue.
