Workshop to give real-world experience to potential law students

The Black Law Student Association at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law is sponsoring a free two-day workshop to enlighten college students on the law school admissions process and provide helpful tips to effectively navigate that process and tackle the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT).

“Setting the Bar: Louisiana State Bar Association Pre-Law Conference” will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in room 111 of the College of Law, and Saturday, March 2, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 405. It is co-sponsored by Tulane University’s Black Law Students Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Committee on Diversity. The College of Law is located at 526 Pine Street in New Orleans.

The first day of the program will consist of a series of information sessions from key admissions personnel from area law schools, who will share essential information on applications, resumes, personal statements and financial aid. A representative from Kaplan will share tips on preparing for and taking the LSAT. Finally, students will be exposed to a mock law school class.

Day two of the workshop will give students the opportunity to take the LSAT under normal testing conditions and times. Students who attend both days of the program will be entered into a raffle for a $1,600 tuition scholarship from Kaplan.

To register or receive additional information, please contact Kelly McNeil Legier at 504-619-0129 or Bonnie DeSalle at 504-231-4641.
